Families Can Also Enroll Free in the 529 GSP

PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 1, 2012 — Families who are looking to save for their child’s higher education have a unique opportunity to learn more about a state-run tuition savings plan by logging in to an upcoming free webinar, hosted by state Sen. Mike Stack and the Pennsylvania Department of Treasury.

The webinar, “Saving for College with the PA 529 College Savings Program” will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 16 from 7 to 8 p.m. Register online here! Participants must have an Internet connection and a Windows 7, Vista, XP or 2003, or Mac OS X 10.5 or newer server.

Administered by the Pennsylvania Treasury Department, the Pennsylvania 529 College Savings Program allows families to invest in their child’s college education through its Guaranteed Savings Plan, a lower-risk plan where your savings help keep pace with rising tuition, and the Investment Plan, which offers 13 investment options from the Vanguard Group.

Learn about PA 529 plan basics, including the tax benefits, financial aid impact, and setting savings goals. Participants can also have their questions answered by a program specialist during the webinar.
