PHILADELPHIA, MARCH 25, 2008: State Sen. Mike Stack encourages residents to volunteer to clean up litter in the community at the upcoming “Philly Spring Cleanup.”
The citywide event, created by Mayor Michael Nutter, will take place on Saturday, April 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. along 50 commercial corridors, 10 recreation centers and 5,000 residential blocks throughout the city, including multiple locations across Northeast Philadelphia.
“One of the simple, yet effective ways that we can improve the quality of life in our communities is through beautification projects,” Stack said. “I encourage everyone to join together and help make Philadelphia a cleaner city.”
In addition to picking up trash, the “Philly Spring Cleanup” also will raise awareness about litter prevention and instill neighborhood pride and civic responsibility in residents in an effort to keep our city clean every day.
“I applaud Mayor Nutter for fostering a sense of pride in Philadelphians with this cleanup event, and I hope we can all learn that we can keep our neighborhoods clean every day by simply picking up litter,” Stack said.
