PHILADELPHIA, FEB. 13, 2008 - State Sen. Mike Stack today reminded senior citizens who are eligible for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate (PTRR) program that they can pick up an application at his district offices.
“Thanks to the influx of gaming revenue, senior citizens are already seeing real relief,” Stack said. “Hundreds of thousands of older Pennsylvanians have already received help paying their property taxes."
“Despite the Property Tax and Rent Rebate Program’s success, many qualifying Pennsylvanians have not yet applied for relief,” he said. “I encourage individuals to apply for this very beneficial program. My staff and I are happy to provide you with the information you need to see if you qualify.”
To receive a free PA-1000 application or for more information, stop by the senator’s district office at 1555-D Wadsworth Ave. in Philadelphia, or call the office at 215-242-0472.
The rebate program benefits eligible Pennsylvanians age 65 and older; widows and widowers age 50 and older; and people with disabilities age 18 and older.
Two years ago, Stack voted for the law that expanded the rebate program by increasing the income limit from $15,000 to $35,000 for homeowners and raising the maximum rebate for both homeowners and renters from $500 to $650. Applicants can exclude, as income, one-half of Social Security, Supplemental Security Income and Railroad Retirement Tier 1 benefits.
Constituents can stop by one of Sen. Stack’s district offices, located at Parkwood Plaza, 12361 Academy Road, (215) 281-2539; 8016 Bustleton Ave., (215) 695-1020; or 2644 LeFevre St., (215) 744-5361, or go online to www.senatorstack.com
