PHILADELPHIA, OCT. 19, 2007 – Free flu vaccinations will be made available to homebound and disabled residents at three Federation Housing sites in Northeast Philadelphia, according to state Sen. Mike Stack.
Stack partnered with Albert Einstein Healthcare Network to provide the vaccinations.
“I want to thank Albert Einstein Healthcare Network for, once again, providing this important service to those in our community who need a vaccine the most,” Stack said. “Flu season is already upon us, and it is not a sickness that anyone should take lightly. Luckily, Einstein is making sure that our citizens get their flu shots. Einstein is truly an asset to our community.”
"Einstein is pleased to once again partner with state Sen. Mike Stack to administer free flu shots to a population for whom the flu can be life-threatening," said Barry Freedman, President & CEO of Albert Einstein Healthcare Network. "In addition to providing quality care, Einstein is committed to helping the communities we serve prevent illnesses whenever possible."
These Federation Housing sites will receive vaccinations:
-
Rieder and Tabas Houses, Bustleton Avenue and Red Lion Road – Friday, Oct. 19 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
-
Saligman House, 8900 Roosevelt Blvd. – Wednesday, Nov. 7 from 1 to 3 p.m.
-
Tabas House, 2101 Strahle St. – Monday, Nov. 12 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
The disease is most serious among persons over the age of 65. Last year, Pennsylvania’s flu season began in October and peaked mid-March. The virus changes from year to year, so annual vaccination is highly recommended.
Albert Einstein Healthcare Network, which is a member of the Jefferson Health System, is a private, non-profit organization with six major facilities and numerous outpatient centers.
Federation Housing, Inc. provides subsidized housing to low-income seniors 62 years of age and older.
