HARRISBURG, JAN. 16, 2007: State Sen. Mike
Stack has once again been named Democratic chairman of the Senate
Banking and Insurance Committee. The
committee handles a variety of issues related to insurance, banking
and investments and the responsibilities of banking, insurance and
investment institutions in Pennsylvania.
The senator was first named to the Banking and Insurance Committee
in 2003.
“I’m honored to sit in this leadership position
again and take on its challenges,” Stack said. “The Banking and
Insurance Committee focuses on many issues that impact people’s
daily lives, like healthcare insurance and credit card rules, and
will play a major role in reviewing and enacting health care
reform.”
Stack’s other committee assignments include Aging
and Youth, Appropriations, Judiciary, Law and Justice, Policy and
Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness.
“Before legislation heads to the Senate for a
vote, the committees fine tune bills to make sure they best serve
the needs of Pennsylvanians,” Stack said. “I will work with my
fellow committee members to develop important legislation that has a
positive impact on the people in my district and all Pennsylvanians.
“As a member of the Veterans Affairs and Emergency
Preparedness Committee, I will support initiatives that benefit the
Pennsylvania National Guard Armory at Southampton Road and Roosevelt
Boulevard,” Stack said. “As a Policy Committee member, I look
forward to shaping Democratic initiatives on open government,
healthcare reform and tax reform.”
