PHILADELPHIA, May 19, 2006 – State Sen. Michael Stack recently
presented Officer Pete Gronczewski of the Philadelphia Police
Department, with a Senate citation for being recognized as the 7th
Police District Advisory Board’s “2005 Officer of the Year.”
“Officer Gronczewski has made it his career to faithfully preserve and
protect the health, safety and welfare of his fellow citizens, for that,
he has earned deep respect and gratitude for his tireless devotion to
duty,” Stack said. “It is an honor and a pleasure to recognize his
contribution to this community.”
Gronczewski was recognized as “Officer of the Month” in February 2005
for apprehending a man with a knife aboard a SEPTA bus. He was again
chosen as Officer of the Month in April 2005 for arresting a man who
shot a friend.
“We must continue to honor and recognize this type of bravery and
selflessness,” Stack said. “I wish Officer Gronczewski all the success
in his future.”
Stack presented the citation earlier this week at an awards ceremony
held at the Island Green Country Club in Philadelphia.
