Sens. Stack, Tartaglione Join 2nd Police District at Local Child Fingerprinting Event

Sen. Mike Stack assists 2nd Police District Officer Mark Mroz in fingerprinting second-grader Gabriel Ortiz.
Philadelphia, April 16, 2010 — State Sens. Mike Stack and Tina Tartaglione today joined the 2nd Police District to help students receive a free fingerprinting at Rhawnhurst School in Northeast Philadelphia.
Stack and Tartaglione provided the state funding that allowed the 2nd Police District to purchase the fingerprinting machine.
The second-grade students were photographed, weighed and fingerprinted. The information will be given to the children’s parents.
Fingerprinting and current photos are valuable resources that parents can quickly provide investigators if their child is missing.
“The information taken today is a simple precaution that gives the police instant access to important identification,” Stack said. “By having their child’s prints, parents know that, in a terrible case of a missing child, they can expedite an investigation that would hopefully lead to their child’s safe return.”
“We’re promoting and raising awareness about safety in the community and even in the students,” Tartaglione said. “Sen. Stack and I are pleased to provide the funding to the 2nd Police District and we appreciate the officers’ willingness to provide free fingerprinting to the children.”
