Sen. Stack Honors Victims of Holocaust at Remembrance Ceremony

April 14, 2010 —Sen. Mike Stack shakes hands with Holocaust survivor Fira Kaganovsky of York, Pa. and greets other survivors.
Harrisburg, April 14, 2010 — State Sen. Mike Stack yesterday joined the Pennsylvania Jewish Coalition at the Capitol for the 2010 Civic Commemoration of the Holocaust.
Stack presented Senate citations to the seven Holocaust survivors who attended the April 13 ceremony.
“The atrocities that took place at the hands of the Nazi regime are horrifying. Yet, even more horrifying is the fact that they took place in modern times,” Stack said. “Thankfully, there were survivors, and I was honored to meet a few of them at the ceremony. The survivors serve as a reminder that we must all try to quell hatred and bigotry.”
The senator also authored the Senate resolution declaring the week of April 11 to 18 as “Days of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holocaust” in Pennsylvania. The Senate unanimously approved the resolution last month.
“It is crucial that the Holocaust victims are never forgotten,” Stack said. “We will never know their pain and suffering, but we can honor their memory here in Pennsylvania.”
