Stack: Latest Budget Process Information Now Available Online

HARRISBURG, MARCH 3, 2009 — The latest news and information on the 2009-10 Pennsylvania budget process is now available on one convenient Web site, according to state Sen. Mike Stack.

The Web site, www.senatorstack.com/appropriations, which was created by the Senate Appropriations Committee, has updated, useful information on the entire budget process, including live coverage of the budget hearings, legislation, reports, budget line items, a detailed description of on the annual budget process and the latest news.

“This Web site is a one-stop shop for all information and news related to the ongoing budget process,” said Stack, who is the Democratic vice chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee. “Right now, the General Assembly is debating how to fill our $2.3 billion budget deficit while continuing to fund crucial services and programs. I encourage the public to follow the latest developments on the budget, because it affects us all.”  

Users can even view how their state senator voted on specific bills.

“This is just one more step toward instilling an open and transparent government,” Stack said. “With the state of our economy on everyone’s minds, it’s also a convenient way to bring information to the public.”
