ARTS CONTEST RULES
1. Contest open to all students grades K-8 in schools located in the 5th Senatorial District.
2. Students may select a president from the following eras and create a poster:
- Grades K-2-A Presidents Day poster depicting what a president does, or just a poster
celebrating Presidents Day in general.
- Grades 3-5-Pick your Presidential Idol from the list of presidents 23-44 (Harrison to Obama)
- Grades 6-8-Pick your Presidential Idol from the list of presidents 1-22 (Washington to Cleveland)
3. Students may use any art medium and display their work on a standard poster size board of
11x14 inches.
4. All entrants must submit an Entry Form to include their name, grade, school and home phone
number. Entry forms are available on the senator’s Web site at www.SenatorStack.com
and at the senator’s district offices.
5. Elimination and winners for each grade will be chosen by the school.
JUDGING
6. Three Presidential Idol judges will determine the winners.
WINNERS
7. One winner will be selected from each grade. Winners will be notified a few days in advance and
9 will be invited to an awards ceremony and breakfast to be held at Franklin Towne Charter High
School in the historical Frankford Arsenal. The ceremony and breakfast will be held on Presidents
Day, Monday, February 15, 2010. The winners’ family, teacher and principal will also be invited
to the awards ceremony and breakfast.
All entry forms and posters must be submitted by Wednesday, January 27, 2010 to:

PUBLIC SPEAKING CONTEST RULES
1. Contest open to all students grades 9-12 in schools located in the 5th Senatorial District.
2. The topic of the speech is determined by grade:
- Grade 9- "My Favorite President Is…and Why"
- Grade 10-"Discuss in detail one of the President's constitutional duties"
- Grade 11-"How did President George Washington Shape the Office of President?"
- Grade 12-"What effect(s) did Lincoln's handling of the Civil War have on the Presidency?"
3. Each speech is limited to no more than 3 minutes.
4. All entrants must submit an Entry Form to include their name, grade, school and home phone
number. Entry forms are available on the senator’s Web site at www.SenatorStack.com
and at the senator’s district offices.
5. Elimination and winners for each grade will be chosen by the school.
JUDGING
6. Three Presidential Idol judges will determine the winners.
WINNERS
7. Schools will select a winner from each grade and then submit the winning speaker’s contact
information and a written copy and audio copy of the speech to my Academy Road Office by
Monday, January 25, 2010. The winners from each school will be invited to participate in the
district-wide public speaking contest, which will take place at the Franklin Towne Charter High
School Auditorium on Saturday, January 30 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Registration will start at
9:30 a.m. The winner from each grade will be invited to join the Philadelphia Flag Day Association
and me for a breakfast and awards ceremony on Presidents Day, Monday, February 15 at Franklin
Towne Charter High School.
All entry forms and a written and audio copy of the speech must be submitted by
