Sen. Stack was elected to a second term in the state Senate in November 2004 by more votes than any
Democrat in the history of the 5th Senatorial District. His district includes Northeast Philadelphia, Port
Richmond, Bridesburg and Kensington. He has been a relentless advocate for senior citizens, education,
health care and jobs. |

Sen. Stack is Democratic Chairman of the Senate Banking & Insurance Committee and serves as a
committee member of: Aging & Youth, Appropriations, Judiciary, Law & Justice and Veterans Affairs &
Emergency Preparedness. |

Sen. Stack serves in our military as an officer in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General Corps
(Pennsylvania National Guard 28th Infantry Battalion). He completed basic officer leadership courses at
Fort Benning, GA and Fort Lee, VA, and the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General School at Charlottesville, VA. |

He earned his law degree from Villanova University Law School in 1992. He is a graduate of LaSalle
College High School and of LaSalle University. |

During the Administration of Gov. Robert P. Casey, Sen. Stack was Executive Deputy Director of the
Pennsylvania Medical Professional Liability Catastrophic Loss Fund. |

Sen. Stack comes from a family committed to public service. His grandfather, an immigrant, became a U.S.
Congressman and co-sponsored the first minimum wage and Social Security bills. |

Senator Stack is a Fellow of The University of Pennsylvania Leadership Academy of the Fels Institute of
Government. He serves on the Board of Trustees of Temple University, the Board of Trustees of the
Holocaust Awareness Museum, the Board of Trustees of the Philadelphia Flag Day Association, the Board
of Directors of Self-Help Movement Inc., and the Board of Directors of CORA Services. He is also a
member of the Chilean & American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Philadelphia, Brian Boru Division 6
Chapter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Saint Katharine Drexel Knights of Columbus, and Shaare
Shamayim Men's Club. Sen. Stack is a member of the Somerton Civic Association and Friends of
Pennypack Park. He serves on the Executive Board of the Brehon Law Society and is a member of the
Democratic State Committee. He is admitted to the Maryland and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. |
